Hi I'm Gareth! A little about me: I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, near the shores of Lake Michigan. At school, I was the local bug catcher; my teachers called me the entomologist because I was always bringing in or drawing some new sort of bug I discovered. At home, I was catching and raising Monarch caterpillars honey bees, and spiders from the fields I grew up near.

I was always fascinated by the natural world. There's a deep and mysterious beauty that can be found in all things if you open yourself to them – something very difficult to do in this day and age.

These are my favorite moments to find and remember on film. They're perfect, but also fleeting: it's almost as though the universe itself is "having a moment" and you're lucky enough to see it. Whether it's a butterfly stopping for a drink of water at a stream, or powerful, ship-sinking Great Lake crystallizing into pure stillness right before your eyes, these moments are incredible, and live on as once in a lifetime memories. They are actual living magic; they are filled with rich light and closeness.

I love remembering these magic moments and sharing them in my photography.

And with that, I'll share one of my favorite quotes, from one of my favorite artists that sums it all up for me:

"Light is the most important person in the picture" - Claude Monet
